Entry requirements:

No requirements although we recommend that you have a reasonable GCSE grade in Business Studies to enroll on this course.

Additional Costs:

You will need to take the standard A-Level examinations in order to fully complete this course. The examinations run on specific dates, which can be obtained by visiting the Edexcel website. You will be required to book these examinations yourself; however, we can provide a list of A-Level test centres around the country for you to arrange this.

To achieve the full Business Studies A-Level you will be assessed across the four themes. All themes will be assessed by three paper-based examinations. A more detailed breakdown of the assessment details is provided below:

Paper 1: Marketing, People and Global Business – 9BS0/01

  • Type: Written examination
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Weighing: 35% of A-Level
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Assessed: Any content from themes 1-4 and from local, national and global contexts.
  • Assessment format: Data response questions including one extended open-response question

Paper 2: Business Activities, Decisions and Strategy – 9BS0/02

  • Type: Written examination
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Weighing: 35% of A-Level
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Assessed: Any content from themes 2-3 and from local, national and global contexts.
  • Assessment format: Data response questions including one extended open-response question

Paper 3: Investigating Business in a Competitive Environment – 9BS0/03

  • Type: Written examination
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Weighing: 30% of A-Level
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Assessed: Any content from all themes and from local, national and global contexts.
  • Assessment format: Data response questions including one extended open-response question

For Paper 3, there will be a pre-released context document issued on the Pearson website in November of the previous year

Upon successful completion of the exams you will receive an A-Level in Business Studies (AS/A2) issued by Edexcel. Both AS and A2 level courses and examinations must be successfully completed to gain a full A level. We have chosen this syllabus as it is the best suited to distance learning.

Method of Study

The course comes to you as a paper-based pack delivered by courier.

You will be given guidance through the Study Guide on the nuts and bolts of studying and submitting assignments.

Postal assignments cannot be accepted without prior permission from the tutor.

Online Version
