Qualification Information

To achieve the full English Literature A-Level you will be assessed across the 4 components. All components will be assessed by three paper-based examinations and coursework. A more detailed breakdown of the assessment details is provided below:

Paper 1: Drama – 9ET0/01

  • Type: Written examination
  • Duration: 2 hours 15 minutes
  • Weighing: 30% of A-Level
  • Total Marks: 60
  • Assessed: Component 1
  • Assessment format: Two essay questions

Paper 2: Prose – 9ET0/02

  • Type: Written examination
  • Duration: 1 hour
  • Weighing: 20% of A-Level
  • Total Marks: 40
  • Assessed: Component 2
  • Assessment format: One comparative essay question

Paper 3: Poetry – 9ET0/03

  • Type: Written examination
  • Duration: 2 hours 15 minutes
  • Weighing: 30% of A-Level
  • Total Marks: 60
  • Assessed: Component 3
  • Assessment format: Two questions

Upon successful completion of the exams you will receive an A-Level in English Literature (AS/A2) issued by Edexcel. Both AS and A2 level courses and examinations must be successfully completed to gain a full A level.

Method of Study

The course comes to you as a paper-based pack delivered by courier.

You will be given guidance through the Study Guide on the nuts and bolts of studying and submitting assignments.

Postal assignments cannot be accepted without prior permission from the tutor.
