Qualification Information

To achieve the full Environmental Studies A-Level you will be assessed across the 4 units. All units will be assessed by four paper-based examinations. A more detailed breakdown of the assessment details is provided below:

Paper 1: The Living Environment – ENVS1

  • Type: Written examination
  • Duration: 1 hour
  • Assessed: Unit 1

Paper 2: The Physical Environment – ENVS2

  • Type: Written examination
  • Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Assessed: Unit 2

Paper 3: Energy Resources and Environmental Pollution – ENVS3

  • Type: Written examination
  • Duration: 1 hours 30 minutes
  • Assessed: Unit 3

Paper 4: Biological Resources and Sustainability– ENVS4

Upon successful completion of the exams you will receive an A-Level in Environmental Studies (AS/A2) issued by AQA. Both AS and A2 level courses and examinations must be successfully completed to gain a full A level. We have chosen this syllabus as it is the best suited to distance learning. The last exams for this course are in 2018.

 

Method of Study

The course comes to you as a paper-based pack delivered by courier.

You will be given guidance through the Study Guide on the nuts and bolts of studying and submitting assignments.

Postal assignments cannot be accepted without prior permission from the tutor.

Online Version

Our online courses are fully digitised versions of the paper-courses, so you can study on any PC or smart device when connected to the internet.

As with the paper course, your online learning programme is completely flexible, so you can study at a pace that suits you.

Method of Assessment

The course contains a number of assignments which your tutor will mark and give you valuable feedback on. We call these Tutor Marked Assignments (TMAs).

Exams:

You will need to take the standard A-Level examinations in order to fully complete the course. The examinations run on specific dates, which can be obtained by visiting the AQA website. You will be required to register for these examinations yourself; however, we can provide you with a list of centres to help you with arranging this.
