Entry requirements: Ideally you will have a reasonable GCSE or O Level grade in Sociology as the concepts in the A-Level Sociology course will follow on from some of the knowledge you will have gained. However, this is not always essential.

  • Assessed: Content from topics:
    • – Section A: one from option 1: 4.2.1, 4.2.2, 4.2.3 or      4.2.4
    • – Section B: one from option 2: 4.2.5, 4.2.6, 4.2.7 or    4.2.8
  • Assessment format: Extended writing

Paper 3: Crime and Deviance with Theory and Methods

  • Type: Written examination
  • Duration: 2 hours

Upon successful completion of the examinations you will receive an A-Level in Sociology (AS/A2) issued by AQA. Both AS and A2 level courses and examinations must be successfully completed to gain a full A level. We have chosen this syllabus as it is the best suited to distance learning.

Method of Study

The course comes to you as a paper-based pack delivered by courier.

You will be given guidance through the Study Guide on the nuts and bolts of studying and submitting assignments.

Postal assignments cannot be accepted without prior permission from the tutor.

Online Version

Our online courses are fully digitised versions of the paper-courses, so you can study on any PC or smart device when connected to the internet.

As with the paper course, your online learning programme is completely flexible, so you can study at a pace that suits you.

All of our online course content is broken down into bite size chunks to make your learning more manageable and effective.

Method of Assessment

The course contains a number of assignments which your tutor will mark and give you valuable feedback on. We call these Tutor Marked Assignments (TMAs).

You will also need to take the standard A-Level examinations in order to fully complete this course. The examinations run on specific dates, which can be obtained by visiting the AQA website. You will be required to book these examinations yourself, but we can provide a list of over 400 A-Level test centres around the country to help with this.

Once you have successfully completed the examinations you will receive the AQA accredited A-Level in Sociology
